Krave eCigs Review
The Krave electronic cigarette system is a no-frills eCig. You get what you need to smoke right away without a bunch of hype or unneeded accessories. Krave ecigs are an entry-level product for the smoker questioning if they want to start smoking ecigs, but not wanting to make a large investment in a full size ecig starter kit. For the price, its a good deal and will last you months of reliable service.
The Krave ecig system is offered in two sizes, the King and the Classic. The only difference being the battery is larger on the King size which will give you about an extra hour of use between charges.
One battery is included with the kit. Quite surprisingly the Krave website does not offer individual batteries for sale. If your battery starts to die, or fails, forget about buying a backup. You will have to buy another starter kit to get a new battery. On the good site, their Classic starter kit is only $10.95. Most other ecig companies charge $10 or more for a replacement battery, so for about the same price you are also getting another charger module and and two more nicotine cartridges. If you really think about it, what Krave gives you for that price is a better deal.
Krave classic batteries appear to be Lithium Ion technology which is known to be very reliable and handles hundreds of charges before wearing out. You’ll get about three to four worth of use out of the Krave electronic cigarette when it is at full charge. That is the industry norm for most ecigs this size because you just can’t fit a more powerful battery in such a small space. Depending on your smoking style and demands, it can last longer with shorter puffs, or loose charge faster if you are really hot-boxing the ecig. In our testing we averaged about 3 hours between charges while vaping quite a bit. All batteries are automatic and activate as soon as you puff on the ecig.
Charging your battery is important. The low price point of the Krave starter kits allows for a basic usb charger. No car or wall charger comes with the kit. Those are extra options at $14.95 each. If you don’t have a computer with a USB port readily available, then you need to at least buy a wall or car charger. Extra USB chargers are available at $12.95 each on the website. However it seems rather stupid to spend $12.95 on the single usb charger when you can buy a whole new Krave Classic starter kit for $10.95 which includes a battery, 2 cartridges and the SAME usb charger!
The KRAVE cartridges come in both King size and the Classic 1000 / 1001 size. It is important to purchase the correct cartridges for your particular Krave ecig because they look practically the same, but are not interchangeable. Another limitation is the nicotine level is only available in 1.4% and 1.8%, basically a medium and high nicotine level.
With Krave you have two flavor options, tobacco or menthol. Nothing fruity, sweet or even a cappuccino foo-foo delight. This entire ecig is built for the regular tobacco cigarette smoker to switch to an ecig at a very low price, just to see if they like it. For a little more than the price of a single pack of cigarettes, you get a starter kit with two cartridges which equal about 2 packs worth of traditional smoking.
The classic Tobacco cartridge vapor had a nicely flavored tobacco taste and good nicotine hit. Being a 1.8% cartridge (the strongest they have), I wanted to see if it packed a punch at such a low price to be included with the $10.99 starter kit. It did!
The Menthol cartridge was very typical of a regular menthol cigarette, but a little sweeter tasting. You could still taste the tobacco flavors with the menthol which was nice.
The vapor from the Krave ecig was very typical for other ecigs in the same classification. While the throat hit was not super strong, it also was not so weak that it wasn’t noticed. Since its not super strong, or weak, that makes it a good entry level device for many to see if switching to an ecig is right for them.
Krave offers a lifetime warranty on their ecigs. Cartridges are not covered, as that is a disposable part of the system that no ecig company covers. However if a battery or charger goes bad, they will take care of it. Depending on where you purchased your Krave starter kit, they may charge a small fee for replacing certain items. To start the return process you have to email them to get approval and a RMA number.
Once you receive a RMA number, you mail back the damaged items to their processing facility:
3001 Griffin Rd.
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312,
Attn: Customer Service Department
Upon receipt of the defective parts, Krave will then send you a confirmation email indicating receipt of same, and their email to you will include an estimated time of delivery of your replacement KRAVE product and/or components.
Toll free number: (877) 661-3244
We did not experience any problems during the review of the Krave ecig that would require a warranty exchange.
As an entry level ecig this is a great buy! A pack of tobacco cigarettes will easily cost you $8-$12 in most areas now. With Krave you can get the Classic starter kit for $10.95 which includes two cartridges, each one equivalent to a pack of cigarettes. While you don’t get anything fancy like car chargers or carrying cases, you do get an ecig at a great value. At that price its practically disposable!
Refill cartridges run about $5.95 for 3 cartridges (equivalent to THREE packs of cigarettes). The King size which only works with the king starter kit, is $10.95 for 5 cartridges (equivalent to FIVE packs of cigarettes). Once again a great value.
If you have not heard of BLU Cigs then you must not own a television! This brand has taken the world by storm with TV and magazine ads everywhere. Blu was one of the first ecig brands that we reviewed back in 2009. Since then there have been many changes to the industry and Blu has adapted every time to be a leader.
Their ecigs and vaporizers are top-notch systems which are priced right in line to be competitive with all the other brands. The overall cost to operate is a bit more, but with that comes some really superb flavors as well as high-capacity nicotine tanks which outlast most of the competition. That in perspective makes it almost a wash for the additional cost, but it does have to be noted in the review due to the price of each high-capacity cartridge.
This is probably the most basic and simple to use ecig I ever tested. Nothing fancy at all about it. You simply screw on the nicotine cartridge and vape. Unscrew the cartridge and charge, reassemble and vape! For the price you can’t go wrong if you want to see if you will like an ecig over a tobacco cigarette.
Everything worked great while I was testing the Krave ecig. I called into Krave support and asked a few general product questions and they were quick to help. There really is not much to the ecig kit to require support unless something was defective. They appear to be attentive to their customers on the phone.
In a world of ecig companies offering 40+ different flavors and tons of options, it is amazing that Krave can survive the competition with such a basic kit and only two flavors. It goes to show that simplicity, quality and decent prices makes customers just as happy when it’s done right. This also makes Krave have the perfect point of sale ecig for mini-stores.
Overall if you want a simple, inexpensive and no-frills ecig system then Krave is perfect for you. Even if you buy a new kit everytime for $10.95, you still save quite a bit versus buying two packs of tobacco cigarettes!
